“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14

Immorality, greed, corruption, violence, and terrorism have become accepted – and often even celebrated – norms in America. We are told everyday that we should idolize those who are self-serving, that it is admirable to become rich at the expense of others, that we should ignore those in need, that violence is the answer to the world’s problems.

But it wasn’t meant to be this way

Our country was founded and built on biblical ideals. Freedom from tyranny. Tolerance of other viewpoints. “One nation under God.” George Washington specifically referenced religion’s profound role as the heart of our new nation in his Farewell Address in 1769. This biblical foundation served our country well for a very long time. It was at the heart of the abolitionist’s struggle to end slavery. It formed the core of the civil rights movement. It is only in recent history that our country has moved to remove God as our guiding force.

Personal Repentance for National Redemption

It begins at home. It begins in our hearts and our communities. We – God’s people – have to seek God’s forgiveness for our apathy and for our sins. Only then will God heal our land.

Our Prayer

“Heavenly Father we, your people, called by your name,
One nation, under God,
Humble ourselves and pray.
We seek your face and turn from our wicked ways.
Hear us, oh God, from heaven.
Forgive our sins and heal our land.
We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ.
