Why do we celebrate Thanksgiving?
Because God has been so good us. What about the division in our country and the hate. How can we be thankful at a time such as this. Many people see no reason to give thanksgiving in today’s America.
Here is the reason:
Thanksgiving brings us to a commonplace, where God intervened and saved this nation. Can He do it again. The Red Indians and the colonialists, diverse in culture radically different, with competitive land values put aside their differences and got together to celebrate Thanksgiving to God for his providence.
Thanksgiving is a time to heal, reconcile, collaborate and restore respect and honor for each other and thank God for His abundant blessings and our common humanity.
Thanksgiving is about giving as we have been richly blessed. Giving is living. In the book of 1 Thessalonians we are exhorted to give thanks.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
